At Manor Farm Care Home in East London, we believe that every resident deserves moments of joy, excitement, and personal fulfilment. That belief comes to life through our beloved Wish Tree — a simple idea that has become one of the most heartwarming traditions in our home. Each wish placed on the tree represents a dream, a memory, or a personal longing waiting to be brought to life. And this month, we had the pleasure of fulfilling a very special wish for one of our lovely residents: Natty.
The Wish Tree was introduced with a simple purpose — to create meaningful moments for our residents by celebrating their individuality. Whether it’s revisiting a cherished place, enjoying a favourite activity, or reliving a happy memory, every wish offers our team a chance to make someone feel seen, celebrated, and truly valued.
These small but powerful gestures not only brighten our residents’ days but also strengthen the warm sense of community that makes Manorfarm feel like home.
This month, the Wish Tree spotlight fell on Natty, whose wish was sweet, simple, and full of character — she wanted to spend a day at Westfield and enjoy her favourite meal at her favourite restaurant.
With great excitement, our team came together to plan a day that would be memorable, comfortable, and tailored just for her.
Natty’s day began with smiles and anticipation. As she arrived at Westfield, her eyes lit up at the sight of one of her most-loved places. The lively atmosphere, the vibrant shops, and the joy of being out and about made the day instantly special.
She enjoyed browsing, taking in the sights, and sharing warm conversations with the team members accompanying her. But the highlight of the day, of course, was the treat she had been waiting for — a delicious meal at her favourite restaurant. As she tucked into her most-loved dish, you could clearly see how much this experience meant to her. It wasn’t just a meal; it was a moment of pure happiness.
Fulfilling wishes like Natty’s is more than simply organising an outing. It’s about creating emotional connections, preserving identity, and celebrating each resident’s story. Many residents carry memories and preferences that have shaped their lives — and honouring these is our way of saying we see you, we value you, and we care.
The Wish Tree reminds us that joy often lies in the simple things: good food, familiar places, and shared experiences.
Natty returned home with a big smile and a heart full of happy memories — and those smiles are what inspire us to continue this beautiful tradition month after month.
