Celebrating Our Emergency Services on Emergency Services Day

14 September 2026

At Abbey Healthcare, we know how important our emergency services are to our communities. Every day, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, call handlers and emergency responders work tirelessly to protect and support people when they need it most.

On Emergency Services Day, 9 September, our care homes across Abbey Healthcare took the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to the incredible people who keep our communities safe.

A Special Thank You from Kenyon Lodge

At Kenyon Lodge, our residents wanted to make Emergency Services Day particularly special. The team prepared gift bags for the local emergency services and invited them to Kenyon Lodge for coffee and cake.

Knowing that emergency services teams are often too busy to step away from their important work, the team decided to bring the treats to them instead.

Goodie bags were delivered to North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) in Bolton and Farnworth Fire Station, with another goodie bag safely set aside for the local police team.

And, in true Kenyon Lodge fashion, the day came with an unexpected twist!

While the team were out delivering their treats, resident Ann found herself needing some assistance from the fire brigade after her bangle became stuck and needed to be carefully removed. Thankfully, Ann was absolutely fine, but the unexpected visit certainly gave everyone a memorable Emergency Services Day!

Thank You from Abbey Lodge

Residents and colleagues at Abbey Lodge Care Home also wanted to show their appreciation.

The team popped into their local fire and police stations, taking along a card and some biscuits as a small thank you for the incredible work the emergency services do.

The visit to the fire station was particularly special, with the team receiving a fantastic welcome and the opportunity to meet some of the firefighters who serve their local community.

Primrsoe Hill and Cromwell House Care Homes Saying Thank You Across Our Communities

At Primrose Hill Care Home and Cromwell House Care Home, Home Manager Amanda Favell and Deputy Manager Danielle Keeble joined forces to visit local emergency service teams in Huntingdon.

They stopped by the local fire, police and ambulance stations, delivering some well-deserved treats as a small gesture of appreciation for everything the teams do.

It was a wonderful opportunity to personally thank the emergency services for their dedication, compassion and commitment to supporting the local community.

Remembering Our Special Connection at Manor Farm

At Manor Farm Care Home, Emergency Services Day was also a chance to reflect on the wonderful memories shared with their local fire service.

The team remembered a special visit from the fire service just a few months ago, when firefighters spent time with Manor Farm residents. These opportunities to connect with local emergency teams are always meaningful, helping residents build relationships with the people who play such an important role in their community.

Emergency Services Day provided another opportunity to reflect on those memories and express our thanks for their continued dedication.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Across our care homes, Emergency Services Day was about much more than delivering gifts, biscuits and cake. It was about recognising the people behind the uniforms and acknowledging the vital role they play in our communities.

To every paramedic, firefighter, police officer, call handler, responder and emergency services professional — thank you.

Thank you for your courage, compassion and commitment. Thank you for being there during some of life’s most difficult moments, and for helping people feel safe when they need support.

From our residents, families and colleagues across Abbey Healthcare, we are truly grateful for everything you do.

This Emergency Services Day, the treats were on us — because you’re always there for us.
