A special afternoon at Abbeydale Court Care Home as resident Irene performed a song she wrote with the support of our music therapist.
The performance was shared during our choir session, led by Kirsty, and was enjoyed by residents and staff alike.
Alongside the performance, residents also put together a photo collage showcasing some of the activities and events they’ve taken part in over the past few weeks. A great way to look back on shared experiences and achievements within our home.
Some memories never fade, and for Jack and his partner Mary, their cherished recollections of spending time together in Fleetwood remain as special as ever. As they shared stories about their many visits to the seaside town over the years, the team at Farnworth Care Home knew they had the perfect opportunity to bring those treasured memories back to life.

One particularly heartwarming moment came when resident Julie welcomed a visit from her mum, daughter, granddaughter Mia, aged four, and her beautiful three-week-old grandson, baby Martin. The smiles, cuddles, and laughter shared across four generations brought immense joy not only to Julie but also to everyone around her.
These special visits demonstrate how powerful family connections can be and how children can have a positive impact on people living with dementia through their warmth, curiosity, and natural affection.
The week also included a creative cake decorating session, where residents iced chocolate cakes with blue frosting in recognition of Dementia Awareness Week. As residents decorated their cakes together, conversations naturally flowed, sparking memories and encouraging discussions about dementia awareness and supporting one another.
The activities served as a reminder that sometimes the simplest moments can have the greatest impact.
With the sunshine making a welcome appearance, residents at Manor Farm Care Home made the most of the beautiful weather by spending time outdoors in the garden.
Led by Home Manager Vanessa, residents enjoyed a range of garden activities, taking in the fresh air and natural surroundings while spending quality time together. Outdoor activities provide valuable opportunities for relaxation, social interaction, and wellbeing, and the smiles on residents’ faces said it all.
It was a lovely day enjoyed by everyone involved.
Kenyon Lodge Care Home has enjoyed several memorable events that truly reflect the power of community and companionship.
Residents recently celebrated Pam’s incredible 100th birthday alongside meaningful VE Day commemorations. The home welcomed local schoolchildren, whose beautiful trumpet performances brought joy and emotion to the celebrations. The Ceremonial Mayor and local community group Walkden in Bloom also joined residents, helping create a wonderful atmosphere of togetherness.
The home’s ongoing relationships with neighbouring care homes continue to flourish, providing residents with opportunities to build friendships, share experiences, and enjoy social activities together.
More recently, Kenyon Lodge hosted a successful Coffee & Cake Day in support of Dementia UK. Residents, families, staff, and visitors came together to raise an incredible £205 for the charity, demonstrating the generosity and community spirit that runs throughout the home.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who baked, donated, purchased raffle tickets, and attended the event. Congratulations also to resident Ann, who was delighted to win the raffle prize.
Special thanks were extended to sister homes Farnworth Care Home, Kendal Care Home, and Heron Hill Care Home, whose residents and teams joined the event with delicious cakes and wonderful company. The day was filled with smiles, friendship, and meaningful conversations, while the home’s kitchen team provided a beautiful buffet enjoyed by all.

May was filled with wonderful animal-themed experiences at Heron Hill Care Home, bringing joy, comfort, and plenty of smiles to residents.
One of the most exciting highlights was watching ten ducklings hatch and grow. Residents were able to follow their journey from the very beginning, observing their development and enjoying the opportunity to nurture and learn about the ducklings as they grew.
Animal therapy continued throughout the month with visits from charming Chihuahua therapy dogs, whose affectionate nature provided comfort, companionship, and many happy moments for residents.
Residents were also delighted when Carol, one of the home’s nurses and a local farm owner, introduced two newborn lambs, Charles and Camila, to residents across the home. At only a few days old, the lambs were incredibly calm and gentle, allowing residents to hold and interact with them. The experience brought enormous happiness and created unforgettable memories for everyone involved.
The home’s outdoor spaces were further enhanced with the introduction of fish to the garden aquarium, creating another peaceful feature for residents to enjoy during the warmer weather.
Adding to the excitement, Heron Hill proudly welcomed its newest permanent resident, Jess the house cat. After joining the home from a loving family who could no longer care for her, Jess quickly settled into her new surroundings. Residents and staff have embraced her arrival, and she has already become a much-loved member of the Heron Hill family, bringing comfort, companionship, and daily moments of happiness.
Residents and staff at Cromwell House were delighted to welcome a very special visitor during May.
Peanut, an adorable puppy, spent time meeting residents throughout the home and quickly became a firm favourite. His playful personality and affectionate nature brought smiles to faces across the home, creating plenty of opportunities for interaction, conversation, and laughter.

The celebration provided an opportunity for residents to share memories, enjoy delicious refreshments, and reflect on an important moment in history. The event brought everyone together in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, creating meaningful conversations and treasured memories.
Combined with the home’s regular activities programme, including exercise sessions, quizzes, dementia pet therapy, and fun games, May was a month full of laughter, connection, and enjoyment at Primrose Hill.
Mental Health Awareness Week provided an opportunity for Aarandale Manor Care Home to focus on emotional wellbeing through a variety of engaging activities and specialist sessions designed to promote positivity, mindfulness, and connection.
Residents enjoyed chair-based yoga and meditation sessions led by Sharon Grossman from My Kind of Yoga. The calming activities encouraged relaxation and mindfulness, while the sounds of a shamanic drum created a peaceful and therapeutic atmosphere. Many residents also enjoyed the opportunity to try playing the drum themselves.
Juan from Active Hearts and Minds brought energy and laughter to the home through a range of interactive games tailored to encourage participation and enjoyment. His creative approach ensured that every resident could get involved and experience the benefits of movement and social engagement.
Music played an important role throughout the week as Camillo Sanchez performed meaningful songs chosen by residents. Singing along with favourite tunes, accompanied by shakers and tambourines, helped create joyful moments and strengthen social connections.
The programme concluded with a talk and exercise session from personal trainer James Lewis, who shared practical strategies for supporting mental wellbeing before leading an uplifting and inclusive exercise session.
