At Kenyon Lodge Care Home, we believe that life is about creating meaningful moments, building friendships, and celebrating every opportunity to bring people together. Over recent months, our home has been filled with laughter, creativity, and community spirit through a variety of engaging activities and special events, all designed with our residents at the heart.
One of the highlights has been the reintroduction of our monthly inter-home competition across Abbey Healthcare. More than just a friendly contest, these competitions encourage residents to work together, express their creativity, and take pride in representing Kenyon Lodge alongside other homes within the group.
Our latest challenge celebrated VE Day, with residents creating their very own Spitfire models. The activity inspired wonderful conversations as residents shared memories, reflected on history, and supported one another throughout the project. Seeing everyone so engaged and proud of their creations was a fantastic reminder of the positive impact meaningful activities can have on wellbeing and confidence.
The VE Day celebrations continued with a lively performance from the D-Day Dollies, who filled the home with music, nostalgia, and joy. Residents, families, and staff came together to sing along, reminisce, and celebrate, creating an uplifting atmosphere and memories that will be treasured for years to come.
We also had the pleasure of opening our doors to the local community during our Care Home Open Day. Visitors were invited to experience everyday life at Kenyon Lodge, meet our dedicated team, and see first-hand the warm, welcoming, and person-centred environment that makes our home so special. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local families and showcase the exceptional care and lifestyle our residents enjoy every day.
With football fever in full swing, we embraced the excitement with a football-themed celebration in our gardens. Residents, staff, relatives, and visitors enjoyed a day packed with fun ball games, delicious food prepared by our talented chefs, and plenty of opportunities to socialise outdoors.
The celebrations continued with music, singing, and dancing, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. It was particularly heartwarming to see residents who hadn’t kicked a football or danced in many years joining in with such enthusiasm. The joy, laughter, and sense of togetherness throughout the day perfectly reflected the spirit of Kenyon Lodge.
Our goal was simple: to create a day full of happiness, connection, and meaningful experiences for our residents—and we’re delighted to say we certainly scored!
